"The "Alps" printers are dye sublimation machines."

While Alps produced dye sublimation printers, these are not very useful for producing bicycle decals.

The Alps thermal transfer printers are the ones to find or use for decals because they are capable of printing the white backgrounds often needed for bicycle decals. A white back background behind a color can "pop out" and intensify the color just as with silk-screening colors over a white background.

The resin transfer inks also have enough body (opacity) to hold out one color against another and to resist UV degradation.

In general, resin transfer printers, such as the Alps, were designed for "spot" process color applications (like most bicycle decals) rather than continuous tone color applications which require subtle mixing of color inks.
