It seems to me eBay could greatly cut down on these scams if they'd make it easier for sellers to digitally watermark their images. Watermarking makes good sense for anyone selling on eBay, even if eBay isn't hosting their images. But it would be convenient if, during the creation of the listing, sellers had an "Add Watermark" checkbox they could click if they wanted to add, say, their user ID in semi-transparent text to the background of the image being uploaded. I think fewer scam artists would be inclined to reuse those images if the original owner's ID were woven into the image.
