Subject: [CR]78 Gazelle A-frame joins the collection

I am happy to report that the 78 Gazelle A-frame that Freek Faro shipped to me has safely arrived here in Dallas. Packing was an A+ effort as always, but thankfully even the outside of the box arrived almost completely untou ched. I eagerly unpacked the frame last night, finding the blue color even more appealing in person than in the photos Freek had sent to me. The yel low color of the decals is also a more pleasing hue than I had originally a nticipated. There are a few items to handle before the build can commence, mostly servicing the bottom bracket, assembling the headset, and cleaning out the seat tube some to prevent any more marking of the Campagnolo 2-bolt seat post. I have a mix of Campagnolo Nuovo Record, Universal Super 68 br akes & levers, and some Simplex Retro Friction shifters set aside for the f rame. I'm having some new wheels built for every-day rolling stock, and fi nally getting around to gluing some tires to the GP4 tubulars for when the occasion calls for it. This A-Frame joins the collection right along side my 83 Gazelle AB-frame which is built with Super Record. I look forward to comparing the ride characteristics of the two frames. The A-frame has abo ut a centimeter longer rear triangle, and thus over all wheel base, and app ears that the fork has a slightly different curve to it. The Campagnolo lo ng horizontal drop-outs can probably allow for enough adjustment to get the wheels placed just about the same place if so desired however. Both are 5 8.5cm ctc seat tube, and the top tubes appear to be the same length as well . There are a few other minor differences in the braze-on appointments, th e older frame routing the derailleur cables over the bottom bracket, where the 83 takes them under. Photos of both Gazelles can be seen on my wooljer sey gallery here: http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/cuda2k/ I will be ad ding more photos of the A-frame as the build progresses.
