The seller is listing this as a "refinished" Merckx . In an email to me he states that the bike was repainted , re-decaled , and has no visible serial # . Are there any sure-fires signs that this is an actual Corsa Extra ? Listing # 290293207548

The fork looks undeniably Merckx, but even with those bad pics, the seat lug and seat stay top eyes do not look Merckx-like. That certainly is not the distinctive Merckx-DeRosa seat lug with it's characteristic "kick up" seat post binder ears. In addition, the seat stays look to be mitered & brazed directly to the seat lug, which was not how it was done in the early 80s. All and all, I think there is reason to be skeptical.?
