I believe Nitto made wide bars for tandems. I will check my early Santana from around 1975. Of course, hunting around for the handful made could be tough going.

There has been several appeals for wide bars from the 1970s recently - they simply were not manufactured. Bars as wide as 44cm and 46cm did not exist until the late 1980s/1990s.
