I can understand it for the looks or period restorations, but as actual fenders they are way too fragile. Leave them in the sun and they crack, lean them against a lamppost and they crack, look or breathe on them wrong and they crack.

I too am not overly keen on the Bluemels Club Sport model, but swear by the Olympic model. The only thing that could be better are some nice French or Italian alloy, stainless steel or wood ones with made to order stays. Unfortunately, made to order stays are nary impossible to get nowadays. I think many people like the Bluemels because they were once the only affordable aftermarket mudguards that you could buy. Furthermore, they are fully adjustable to fit almost any bike and can neatly be modified for generators and tight-fitting brake and chainstay bridges. Lastly, they had 2 sets of stays on the front mudguard which many other brands did not have.

They work well for the price that one used to pay for them. Nothing high-tech, but good value for the money.
