I have little to contribute in this discussion of dating Universal brake calipers, except to ask a question. The question may appear as if it one of promoting my own ebay auction, but it is intended more as fitting into the department of clarication. A potential bidder asked me the model of the brakes, and so far my answer is I do not know.

Based upon what Chuck Schmidt wrote: It goes like this: mod.35 - 1935 (side pull) mod.39 - 1939 (side pull) mod.50 - 1950 (side pull) mod.51 - 1951 (side pull) mod.61 - 1961 (center pull) mod.68 - 1968 (side pull

How does one know the model of Universal brakes if there are no markings on them, except Universal? I currently have a set of Universal side pull calipers on Ebay. I believe these come from the fifties, but I am not sure. Here's the URL http://ebay.com/<blah>

Thank you.

Cheers.

Tom
