Hi, FYI I have an Cinelli Repair stand from about 1980 that is light blue that seems to work fine, though being an amateur mechanic I support the bike from the top tube away from any decals. The clamping mechanism surface is a thin hard plastic later over abut an 1/8" foam pad, with grooves or channels for the cable housing. I does seem strange that only we in the US use the Park type repair
stand. Everywhere else I've been in the world uses the European type
repair stand that holds the bottom bracket and front fork. The Ultimate
stand works great -- I've had one since they first came out in the 80's.
I use a toe strap around the downtube and front wheel to hold the front
wheel in place. And, of course, it is a Binda toe strap.
