Boy Ted, I forgot all about that. I used to take a nickel to use as a pattern and cut circular patches out of old latex innner tubes. I'd smear Rema vulcanizing fluid on the tube and the patch and let dry before sticking the patch on. Worked fantastic and as you say, the patch was thin and flexable and stretched with the tube, not like the Rema patch.
