A quote from the Rivendell Bicycle Works catalog No. 03, (summer '97- Feb.'98): "I also like the idea of a fine frame being identifiable by brand, even without its paint, decals, and head badge, if it happens to wind up in a junkyard 100 years from now. In the case of Rivendells, I like to think that in 2097, a hobo art connoisseur could saunter by, see the frame pick it up, see the joints, and say ' Jiminy Christmas-an old Rivendell...' " While the early Riv lugs , both the standard and All-Arounder/Mountain versions, had a somwhat French influence and might somday be taken as such, the newer lugs and crown will almost certainly not be taken for anything but Rivendell.
