FOR SALE: 1986 J. P. Weigle Track & Road bikes - matching pair
Amazing!!!!! The track bike has zero miles on it (maybe a few on rollers). The road bike has around 1,000 miles. Paint by Brian Baylis. Chrome. Both have seat tubes 55cm ctt, top tubes 54cm ctc. C-record parts. Road bike has internal shifter & brake cables. Road bike's wheels were used on another bike & have additional miles; hubs have been repacked & are excellent; braking surface on rims show some wear.
I bought the bikes to bring them the 2007 Cirque & to keep them together as a matched pair. I drove to Boston (actually Palmer, MA) to pick them up so they would not have to be shipped.
It seems to me that they belong together. Maybe I am idealistic or naïve, but I would like to sell them to somebody who wants to keep them together. If that person is out there, I will sell the bikes for what I paid --- $5,000 for the pair. I would be willing to take a $1,000 deposit to hold the bikes until the end of January 2008. I might take a partial trade for something really special - probably English or French. I usually ride a 56, maybe a 55 ctc
I will deliver the bikes at no charge to any place within 2 hours of Cincinnati. I will deliver to any place within a 1 day (could be a long day) round trip of Cincinnati for just gas money.
If nobody raises their hand for both bikes, I may price & sell them separately. I will want more for the track bike if they are sold separately. Or I might sell the track bike & keep the road bike. Or they might show up on ebay - sorry I don't have the negative feelings that some folks do about ebay. For now they are just for sale as a pair.
